Okay
-- at this point, perhaps I ran
out of steam, creatively. I
had in mind the final setup (the
next page), but it was too early
to do that, so I had time for one
more setup before that final
one. I think that this is
where having a surprise visit had
an impact -- if I had had more
planning time, I would have had a
concept ready.
Instead,
we set up some horizontal
posing. To be honest, we
started with some images with
Brooke on her back, but they were
too much like the images
we made during her first visit.
So, we moved on. |
|
|
To
be honest, we made a few images like the one
above, but they just felt too much like stuff we
had already done either during her first visit
or earlier on the couch.
Then,
we tried a few exposures like this one to the
left. They were mildly interesting, but
they didn't knock me out. But we were
trying. Perhaps we'll find something
interesting.
I
ask Brooke to lie on the wooden floor, and I
attempt to photograph her from nearly above her. |
|
Now
we're getting somewhere. By photographing
Brooke from above, she appears weightless.
I like the texture of the wood floor. The
light is nice. I'll leave it as an
exercise for you to figure out the lighting here
-- but I'll give you a little help: I used
three lighting sources. |

Hey,
not every image will be perfect.
As an artist, you've got to take some
chances & try new things. I
didn't like these lying down pictures
(through no fault of Brooke's).
The exposures were off just a tad, and
the images weren't as exciting as I
wanted them to be. There are
some starts of ideas here, and perhaps
I'll develop them further. But
these don't quite work for me. I
couldn't tell you exactly why, but
that's part of the process -- I've got
to study them a bit more.
