This picture,
above, is one of my favorites from this sitting.
An artistic note: a lot of photographers use
this kind of lighting set-up -- a large soft box
positioned slightly in front & somewhat to the
side of the model. This provides a nice soft
light that is great on skin as clear as
Justine's. But many photographers stop there --
instead, I chose to focus a second light on the background
behind Justine's shaded side. This creates a
silhouette along the shaded side & creates a bit
of depth for the photograph. In my opinion, this is something
that distinguishes beginning and intermediate studio
photographers: the intermediate photographer
creates depth in his/her photographs, and a simple way
to do that is to light the background.

Justine was totally comfortable &
relaxed during this sitting, and that always makes things easier. I give
the model mini-breaks while I change film or make adjustments to the lighting --
when I was ready to continue, I always found Justine rolling around with my dog.
You've no doubt noticed that Justine has
a few body piercings. Take a closer look at Pierced
Justine.
