What
follows are some attempts at "artistic" images:
Okay -- I got
a new boom arm, one that's attached to the wall, and I went
overboard. There's the overhead light (that's lighting
Dominique's hair) and there's another light head on the
floor, pointing up.
In retrospect,
I'm not a big fan of these images, but there are a few,
here & there, that are interesting.

Kinda spooky?
Kinda mysterious?
You know,
I'm not a big fan of these pictures, but I am very, very
gratified that I tried this. I think that photographers
(and artists in general) have a nasty habit of staying in
the vicinity of past successes. True artists are courageous,
because they have to try new things & risk failure.
If you never try, you'll never know.
This
image here was unexpected. I kinda like it.

Frequent visitors
to this web site will recall that I've been dealing with
deteriorating eyesight. Maybe that's why I've found
myself looking at this "Brush Strokes" special
effect on many/most of my images. My eyes are losing
their ability to distinguish detail, but I do see well enough
to appreciate the abstraction provided by this effect set
at a "loose" brush stroke setting. |

Okay -- lots of photographers try the "super
shadowy images against totally black background" images,
but in reality, I kinda think that these kinds of images
are somewhat cliché. Sure, they seem dramatic, but
let's face it, we've seen this kind of image before.
If I'm going to make that kind of image, I want to be making
a unique contribution to the genre. These weren't.
So, I move on. I do like simple. Simple is
good. Simple is especially good when working with
a new-to-you model. So, we do some simple stuff.

I've always like the "one shoulder
higher than the other" poses, but only if it is a natural
gesture. |
