I
first met Jessica in late 2003, when
she was barely legal for nude posing. She was in
college back east, but she came through
town to visit her folks. I
really enjoyed working with her -- we
hit it off immediately.
Jessica's true interest was in
becoming a photographer, and with that
in common, our sittings became
unusual. For most of my sittings
with other models, I
would keep my technical thinking to
myself, but with Jessica, I started
telling her why I was doing things
& showing her previews of the
images in the digital cameras' LCD
screens. On that basis, with
photography in common, Jessica & I
became good friends, and I became a
photographic mentor for her. We shared
dreams & plans &
disappointments; we've been each
other's sounding board; etc.; in
short, we've become quite close. In
the past, we've shared models, like
Yulia & Betcee. Gradually,
Jessica stopped modeling, but we kept
in touch.

Last
summer, Jessica finally graduated from college & moved back
home to stay with her parents while she figured out her next
move. Joy for me -- she was less than 90 minutes
away. We got to the point where she'd come in to town for
some adventures, spending the night up in my guest room. I
got spoiled -- we talked often, and we got to see each other a
couple of times a month.

One day in
December,
Jessica calls me and asks:
"Hey,
do you want to
photograph me tomorrow?"
I thought about
it for a nanosecond & said yes.
Then, Jessica
gave me the condition: I had to do something new, something
I/we hadn't done before.
I've got to
admit that now that I've become close to Jessica, I was a little
intimidated. With an typical model, I pay her to pose for
me, and it doesn't really matter to me whether the model likes the
resulting images or not (they usually like them, but it's not
important). Jessica doesn't pose all that often any more,
and it was more important to me that she approved of the images.

|
So,
our first setup. I asked Jessica if she had any see-thru
clothes, and Jessica suggests that she wears a
translucent top over her favorite jeans, and I suggest this
lighting, which I haven't done before. There's a main
light suspended over the camera position, and there are two
lights on either side of the camera.
|
| Jessica
was feeling good. She was feeling good about her body --
hence this photography sitting.
During my
sittings, I tend to play music -- I have a mix of upbeat music for
sittings, selected from my collection, and I guess Jessica is
enjoying it because she starts to dance. I was a little surprised
because she & I don't exactly share a common taste in music --
she likes all these new groups & performers that I never heard
of. Still, she enjoys the music I've got playing, and I encourage her to
continue to dance, and this, this just might be the highlight of our whole relationship. She is feeling confident, she is beautiful,
she is dancing, and we are making photographs. There is no
better definition of bliss for me.

I
like the curvy line from Jessica's shoulder, over her breast,
along her rib cage, to her tight waist.
|
| I
think it's time to show a little more skin, and at the slightest suggestion, she
happily starts to show me more. She starts with her
breathtaking abdomen -- I am a big, big fan of flat & defined
bellies, and Jessica's is world class.
We take our
time -- I like these transition type images: there's more of
a story in them, and I think it's always a good idea to give
models something to do with their hands.

Jessica
& my relationship is platonic, so it's always a surprise
when we produce a sexy image like this one.
|
|
I'm struck
that, over the years, I've seen lots of different hairstyles on
Jessica. Heck, if I remember correctly, her hair was purple
when I first met her. But I've got to admit that her current
medium-short & sassy hair style is a favorite.
(A couple of
months after these images were made, Jessica cut her hair even
shorter -- I like the new style, too. I'm a fan of short
hair on women.)

We
get around to removing Jessica's top.
Maybe this is
a good time to comment on the lighting -- I like it. It
produces interesting shadows and does a good job in providing
good light for both Jessica's face & figure.

Here's one of
my favorite pictures ever! I like how Jessica is stretched
& taut, I love the perfection of her figure & how her
stretching shows it off, and I like the
jog to her waist. I love how the shadows frame her figure.
So, what
follows are some artistic variations on this specific image (playing with
the capabilities of my image editing software packages).

Another
favorite -- I like the intensity on Jessica's face.
|
| It's
never bad when a nude model raises her arms up. The only
trick is to make it natural, to have a reason why her hands are
raised.
For
as long as I've known her, Jessica has had a slim figure, and she
has had athletic hobbies. (Can you believe that Jessica
plays rugby?). But over the past five years, her body has
become more toned & defined while she has lost what little
baby fat she had.
Speaking from
personal experience, I can tell you that Jessica's svelte figure
is not a result of her starving herself. Jessica & I
enjoy going to all the wonderful restaurants here downtown, and
despite weighing about one third of what I do, she holds her own
at the dinner table.

| There
are more surprises in store -- stay tuned. However, so far, so
good -- Jessica looks fantastic, and I've never found a stronger
connection with a model.
